The Water Academy—the training affiliate of the Saudi Water Authority (SWA)—has released a landmark report titled “The Transformational Role of the Water Academy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia”. The report highlights the Academy’s journey and pioneering achievements in developing national skills and competencies, supporting the sustainability of water resources, and enhancing sector efficiency in alignment with the National Water Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030.
According to the report, more than 100,000 trainees have benefited from the Academy’s programs since its establishment in 1982, through the delivery of thousands of training initiatives covering all aspects of the water sector.
The Academy has expanded its services to cover the full spectrum of the water system, from production, transmission, and storage, to distribution, treatment, and reuse, while extending its presence through new branches in Riyadh, Madinah, Rabigh, and Khobar, alongside the launch of “Ajyal Academy”.
The report underscores the Academy’s contribution to women’s training programs, the development of skills in alternative energy in collaboration with universities, and the rollout of professional diploma programs linked to employment at leading companies, supported by the Human Resources Development Fund.
It further highlights the Academy’s role in preparing national talents in areas such as operations, water efficiency, emergency response, and freelance professions, while facilitating access to accredited professional certifications and linking training to employment opportunities. Advanced training technologies, including simulation, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence, have been integrated into its offerings.
The report also points to the Academy’s extensive network of strategic partnerships with leading local and international institutions, such as the University of Oxford, London Business School (LBS), the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM), ABB, Schneider Electric, and the Saudi Council of Engineers. The Academy has also broadened its reach through collaboration with world-renowned universities and centers, expanding its services across Saudi Arabia, the Gulf, and internationally in countries including Oman, China, and Singapore.
The Academy has received both local and international accreditations across multiple training disciplines, enhancing the credibility of its programs and securing wide recognition regionally and globally.
Looking ahead, the Academy outlines future plans for regional and international expansion, establishing a global system for professional certification, and focusing on smart water technologies and digital transformation, further strengthening the Kingdom’s position as a global hub for innovation and sustainability in the water sector.
