The Saudi Water Authority (SWA) announced that the volume of water distributed in Makkah and the Holy Sites since the start of the 1447H Hajj season has exceeded 7.2 million cubic meters. On Arafah Day alone, total water distribution reached 828,113 cubic meters, coinciding with pilgrims’ movement from Mina to Arafah to perform the greatest pillar of Hajj. This was achieved through an integrated system that met the increasing demand efficiently and reliably.
The Authority explained that its technical and laboratory teams have conducted more than 44,236 water quality analyses since the beginning of the Hajj season, including 4,978 analyses on Arafah Day, to verify the quality and safety of water across various operational sites. The Authority also highlighted that the water sector has implemented a range of operational and technical measures aimed at ensuring water quality and sustainability. These efforts included continuous monitoring of water services, maintaining strategic reserves, and ensuring the readiness of production, transmission, storage, and distribution systems. The sector’s performance indicators were supported by advanced technologies and high operational efficiency to ensure uninterrupted water supply throughout the Hajj season.
Furthermore, the Authority noted that ongoing coordination and collaboration with relevant entities of strategic importance contributed to maintaining service continuity and strengthening water security, enabling pilgrims to perform their rituals with ease and reassurance in Makkah and the Holy Sites.
