The Saudi Water Sector is participating in the sixteenth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), hosted in Riyadh from December 2 to 13, 2024. This participation reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to enhancing the sustainability of natural resources and supporting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in achieving water security and environmental preservation.

Throughout the conference and its accompanying exhibition, the Saudi Water Sector will highlight its groundbreaking initiatives to tackle water scarcity and mitigate the effects of desertification. These initiatives include cutting-edge innovations in integrated water resource management, advanced water treatment technologies, enhancements in water supply chains, and creative strategies to minimize water wastage. Additionally, the sector will feature programs focused on modern irrigation techniques, water treatment, and reuse, emphasizing its commitment to environmental sustainability and ensuring food security.

The participation of the Saudi Water Sector in COP16 underscores its pivotal role in supporting national efforts to address climate and environmental challenges. This aligns with the directives of the Saudi government to unify national and international efforts in tackling global environmental challenges while presenting a leading model in preserving and ensuring the sustainability of natural resources for future generations.
