The 3rd Innovation-Driven Water Sustainability Conference concluded today (Wednesday) in Jeddah after three days of intensive discussions and panel sessions. The conference focused on fostering innovation to address water challenges, enabling sustainability, and exploring the future of the water industry amid the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The event brought together over 480 experts and speakers from 20 countries.
The final day featured four main sessions covering diverse topics. The first session, titled “CEO Insights on Sustainable Reuse and Resource Management,” included participants sharing their achievements and best practices in promoting sustainable water management.
The second session focused on emerging innovations to reduce contaminants threatening water quality, such as microplastics and industrial chemicals. Participants presented innovative solutions for monitoring and addressing these challenges.
The third session, titled “Innovation Accelerating Water Innovation: Venturing Models for Growth and Impact in Saudi Arabia,” brought together researchers, inventors, and government officials to discuss transforming ideas into practical solutions.
The final session discussed the latest innovations in improving water transportation efficiency and storage technologies. Titled “Adapting to Change: Next-Gen Infrastructure Solutions for Water's Unpredictable Future,” it featured experts presenting new technologies and strategies to address challenges like fluctuating demand, declining water quality during storage, and water loss during transportation.
The closing day also included two keynote speeches. Dr. Ibrahim Al-Harbi, a consultant in pediatrics, hematology, and oncology, highlighted the close relationship between water quality and public health. Meanwhile, Adel AbouJaoude, Global Director at Jacobs Water Conveyance and Storage, explored how innovation is transforming water transport and storage systems, emphasizing strategies that ensure sustainable water management.
The third and final day of the conference also featured four research papers offering scientific and practical recommendations. These were presented by Dr. Wenhai Chu, Mr. Troy Yu Tao, Eng. Youngwook, and Dr. Abdulrahman Magdy.
The conference concluded with an awards ceremony honoring distinguished individuals in the water sector, as well as recognizing participating sponsors and the winning teams of “MiyahThon.”
