The water sector has recently improved water supply in Dawadmi and Afif, doubling production to 50,000 cubic meters per day—a 28,000 cubic meter increase—thanks to innovative initiatives that maximize existing assets without significant new investments. These improvements include enhanced hydraulic operations using national engineering expertise, leading to extended pumping hours across 54 centers and villages.

These efforts are part of a comprehensive strategy within the water sector, which focuses on planning, executing large infrastructure projects, and continuously seeking innovative engineering solutions to boost service reliability and operational efficiency. The Saudi Water Authority (SWA) oversees coordination across the sector, ensuring alignment with the National Water Strategy to sustainably manage water supply and protect non-renewable resources.

It is worth noting that the water system in the Kingdom serves 1,430 populated areas, with a production capacity of 11.5 million cubic meters of water per day. The strategic and operational storage capacity exceeds 40 million cubic meters, supported by transportation systems that span more than 14,000 kilometers. Additionally, the distribution network extends over 130,000 kilometers, and the sewage network covers more than 55,000 kilometers.
